What does the city walk look like
Jacqueline offers two tours: one through the neighborhood of Otrobanda and one through the Scharloo. Both districts are located in Willemstad (downtown) and are part of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. And that’s what Jacqueline is going to show you. Both walks will take you to the most beautiful streets in the middle of the neighborhood that you won’t easily find without a guide. A walk takes 1.5 to 2 hours and, in fact, each hike is unique. Depending on your interests, Jacqueline will adjust her tour to make it an interesting city tour for everyone.
Small groups, maximum attention
Jacqueline does the city walk with small groups. That way it won’t be so massive and she can give everyone some personal attention and answer any questions. It also allows her to easily deviate from the standard route if just another alleyway better suits the story she is telling or the question Jacqueline is answering.
City Walk Otrobanda
The Otrobanda neighborhood is located in the center of Curacao and is connected to the world-famous Handelskade by the Queen Emma Bridge (Pontjesbrug). Otrobanda has a rich history and you’re going to see it all. As you walk through the streets with Jacqueline, she tells those stories as background to the houses and buildings. She takes you past the most beautiful street art and the friendly residents of this neighborhood.
City Walk Scharloo
Scharloo is characterized by its beautiful listed buildings, colorful streets and colonial mansions. A wonderful neighborhood to walk through. A neighborhood where embassies and government buildings alternate with raw street life. Jacqueline tells you about the people who lived there, the development of the neighborhood, the highs and lows. Lots of history in this neighborhood.
Who is Jacqueline
Jacqueline is one of the few in Curacao to be a certified & professional guide. With her cheerful, energetic and friendly nature, she is always welcome in the neighborhoods and makes residents smile. In her signature outfit, Jacqueline showcases the neighborhood and manages to convey the beautiful stories from within the neighborhood in a positive and respectful manner. Partly because of her good knowledge of history, Jacqueline is also increasingly asked by official agencies on Curacao to do tours.
In short: Jacqueline is the expert who proudly takes you through “her” Curacao!
